how long is too long before you feel like you can handle someone touching you after being raped? It's been two years for me...

It is different for everyone. If you have had support and dealt with your emotions the best way you know how...than just be paitient with yourself. forcing the issue will not help. If you have not gotten help in dealing emotionally with the damage the rape caused, I urge you to do so. My prayers are with you..[HEART]

thanks for your comment.... I was going to therapy for a little while, but I quit and now I just show up every month or two to get med refills and because they have to monitor how I'm doing on meds... honestly, I can't really remember the exact reason I quit therapy... I think I just felt like all that could be done had been done... talking about it just made me relive the whole experience over and over and I do that pretty well on my own, I guess...

Maybe it was not the right therapist..dealing with what it did to your life from the rape on, rather than reliving the horror of it with the right therapist may help. peace to you.[HEART]

I hope you have seen a rape counsler--and don't give up on therapy--sometimes it takes a while and you stay on a platau before you can get a step further--it takes a lot of time and baby steps--even if you sit there and say/do nothing eventually something will happen--and, maybe, you just need another therapist[HEART]

I think that it is different for everyone. Each individual has to sort through all the feelings involved. Counseling can definitley help with that as long as you find the right one. Just know that there are people around you who care and get what ever help you need.
